Toby Newcombe (bass,
guitar, keys)
Multi-instrumentalist
Toby Newcombe is the youngest of the KidzRock! instructors but has
the experience and ear of someone twice his age. He started out
on guitar and piano at the age of 9 and went through all the grades
but soon realized that the electric bass was the groove machine
he just had to master.
A
devoted student of music and the bass guitar, Toby graduated in
Popular Music and has since gone on to study bass with the masters
at the legendary Bass Institute in London. Toby is still a fine
piano and guitar player and if you heard him play all three instruments,
you'd struggle to identify his 'first' instrument.
Toby
has been a full time music teacher for seven years and is currently
with the Herts Music Service and can be seen at a school near you
teaching guitar, bass and leading weekend rockband sessions.
When
he's not teaching he's likely to be gigging with one of his many
bands whether it's a covers band in the local pub, a classy wedding
functions ensemble or a cool hip hop combo playing to thousands
of people at the Mean Fiddler in London. He likes to keep himself
busy.
Toby
is a self confessed 'groove junkie' and a totally natural and gifted
musician. Playing by ear since day one, he is a super fast learner
and doesn't need to bother with rehearsals - "the gig is the first
rehearsal man!"
